INTRODUCTION
The Biopolis Shared Facilities (BSF) was established by the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) in August 2004 to support the R&D needs of the biomedical scientific community.
BSF occupies a 7,000 sqm purpose-built facility and provides research support and scientific services. Through centralisation of the services, BSF seeks to maximise usage of key scientific equipment as well as support services. This centralisation also brings convenience and savings to our customers. Working in partnership with our customers, vendors and stakeholders to deliver
cost-effective research products and professional scientific services to the R&D community in Singapore.

To be the desired supplier for research consumables and professional scientific services to the R&D community in Singapore.
BSF OBJECTIVES
The BSF has 4 main objectives:
• To centralize and
maximize key scientific equipment usage and to capitalize on cost sharing,
convenience and expertise.
• To encourage
cross-disciplinary interactions.
• To facilitate A*STAR
and private sector collaboration.
• To lower entry-level
cost for local biotech startup.
By bringing together the specialized technology platforms, advance equipment and
high technical expertise, along with the necessary research supplies and a
conducive meeting environment, the BSF aims to optimize the research spending
and the process of scientific result delivery.
